Our Past

In 2009, we founded add.a.lingua, an organization committed to collaboration and excellence in second language education.

The Story

Becoming bilingual through immersion experiences ourselves led us (Stacey and Lilah) to the field of world language instruction.  By teaching in various situations (from kindergarten classrooms to college campuses), we experienced the power of language learning. This power drives us as educators and administrators. 

 

We interact with immersion students and see results.  Because they are creative problem-solvers, they often achieve higher math, science, and reading scores on standardized tests.  They confidently share their interest in learning a third and fourth language, and they embrace a world outside of their immediate communities. 

 

We spend our time dedicated to improving second language instruction by constantly “raising the bar.”  The higher we place it, the more students achieve.  We are educators who like to “push the envelope.” We cultivate new ideas, discuss and shape them, and then make sure the ideas work practically in the classroom.
